The following is a press release from Jones County Junior College:

Jones County Junior College’s Math department along with the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics recently sponsored the district level MCTM Math Contest for Jr. High School students.  About 40 students from ten Pine Belt schools spent the morning working out various math problems to earn a spot at the state competition in April. 

South Jones students took both first place spots and West Jones students took second place spots in the competition. South Jones eighth grader, Steven Sasser won first place and West Jones eighth grader, Nick Chesser won second place.  Sasser also took first place honors as a seventh grader. South Jones seventh grader Allie Davis won first place and seventh grader, Dylan Stockstill of West Jones earned second place honors.
