Jones County man arrested after high-speed chase

JONES COUNTY (WDAM)- A domestic assault led to a high-speed chase in Jones County on Wednesday.

The sheriff's department said Jeffery Hicks, Jr. and his mother were involved in a fight, and they allege Hicks physically abused his mother.  She later called 911 after Hicks left the home.

As a deputy interviewed the mother, officials noticed a Nissan Altima with a driver matching Hicks' description. Authorities noted that Hicks was driving with an unidentified passenger.

Ellisville State School shows employees appreciation

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- The Ellisville State School hosted their Employee of the Year Banquet on Friday.

The school takes time out to recognize all employees selected as Employee of the Month in 2012.

The annual event is made possible by the Family and Friends of ESS to recognize the Direct Support Professionals for their work.

The 2012 Employee of the Year award went to Ellisville State School Pecan Grove Unit Direct Support Professional, Lee Pickering. 

Lee received a trophy and cash awards.

Domestic disturbance leads to Jones County marijuana arrest

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM)- A Jones County man is in jail after a domestic disturbance led to a drug arrest this week.

Jones County Deputy Regina Newton arrived at the scene on Monday and spoke with the alleged victim. The alleged victim said her boyfriend, Cadaro Jennings, punched her in the head while she was taking items out of her vehicle at his residence. 

Jennings then fled in her car with their 5-year-old child.
