DAR to host annual 'Halloween Ghost Tour' at Ellisville's Deason Home | News
ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM)- Hundreds of Jones County-area residents looking for a good scare this weekend are expected to take a tour Saturday of one of the oldest, and some say, most haunted homes in Mississippi.
They'll be walking through the legendary Deason Home in Ellisville as part of the annual "Halloween Ghost Tour," hosted by the Tallahala Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The event raises funds for upkeep of the home, which was built in 1845.
It was the site of an infamous murder of a Confederate officer 150 years ago.
During the event, hostesses, in period dress, will provide historical information about the home and relate ghost tales connected to it.
"You'll start the tour here on the porch and we pretty much give you a little history of the house, you'll tour all the rooms, and throughout the tour, you'll also be hearing stories of the paranormal," said Lacey Stringer, treasurer for the Tallahala Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Confederate re-enactors will also take part in a living history exhibit on the grounds of the home.
The tours will run from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Admission is $5.
