JCJC hosts DECA District 4 and 5 competition

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- Jones County Junior College hosted a career development conference competition on Thursday.

More than 250 high school students from 15 schools participated in the Distributive Education Clubs of America competition.

Students competed with other students across the districts in different events such as principles of business, fashion merchandising, sports and entertainment marketing.

"Deca assists students to be prepared for the business world," said Mississippi DECA state advisor Tammie Brewer. "It's a great resume builder and it's a great networking possibility."

Students who placed in the top six places on Thursday will move on to the DECA state competition in Jackson which will be held February 20 - 23.
