News

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- English professor Dr. David Lowery was
recognized Thursday as the 2012 Jones County Junior College Humanities Teacher
of the Year.

Each year the Mississippi Humanities
Council recognizes the contributions of an instructor at each of the state's
colleges and universities.

Based on his accomplishments, Lowery was
nominated for the Humanities Teacher Award by JCJC's administrators. As an
award recipient, not only was Lowery recognized, but he also had to deliver a
public lecture in which he chose to speak about Shakespeare.

"I consider it an honor and a privilege
to be the recipient of this award because I know that there are several people
within my department who are extremely deserving, but I am honored beyond
belief to be the recipient," said Lowery.

Along with the Humanities Teacher Award, Lowery also received a $500
cash award.
