Forrest General’s Cancer Registry was recently awarded Gold certification by the Mississippi Cancer Registry for the fourth time in five years. The Mississippi Cancer Registry began awarding this certification in 2008, recognizing hospitals who submit timely, complete and high quality data to the Mississippi Cancer Registry.

Selected as Junior Football Player of the Game for the October 6 matchup is Alex Bolling. Alex is a seventh grader at Oak Grove Middle School and is the son of William and Sandra Bolling.

Potentially deadly cancers of the blood often are fought with blood transfusions. September is Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month. To help assure a strong blood supply for area hospitals, United Blood services is having a blood drive from 12 – 6 p.m., September 25 at the Cameron Center, located at 711 North 10th Ave. in Laurel.
