Nov. 29 will find Laurel’s Historic Downtown alive beginning with the lighting of the Christmas tree in Pinehurst Park at 5:30p.m. Music will fill the quiet of the central business district with choirs, bands, dancers, small groups and instrumental ensembles. Downtown retail businesses will have extended evening shopping hours and Studio 5 Fifty will feature local artists booths filled with art offerings ready to complete your Christmas list. The Laurel Jones County Library will host an open house with special activities for the children, a used book sale, refreshments and a visitor from the North Pole! Nov. 30 at 5 p.m., Santa will be in downtown Ellisville to kick off the Christmas season with the lighting of the Jones County Christmas Tree. Enjoy Christmas music by the Children’s Choir of First Baptist Church of Ellisville, lighting the downtown tree, photos with Santa and hot cocoa and cookies from the Ellisville Rotary Club. The location is on the Courthouse lawn in downtown Ellisville. For details call City Hall (601) 477-3323.
Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. the Arabian Theatre will be showing the Polar Express. The youth at First Methodist United Church of Laurel are hosting a movie night fundraiser that is open to kids from 1 to 99! Donations will be accepted at the door. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; the show will start at 7 p.m. The movie is 100 minutes long. We hope you can join us!
Dec. 1, it's Kiwanis Pancake Day and the Sertoma of Laurel Christmas Parade, "A Bayou Christmas", with Grand Marshals from "Swamp People", R. J. and Jay Paul Molinere!
Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. the City of Ellisville will be having its annual Christmas Parade through downtown; come out for candy, fun and sightings of special guests!
