JCJC celebrates Homecoming 2012 | Community Spirit

Plans are underway to make Homecoming at Jones County Junior College a special event. This year’s theme is “Jones, Destined for Greatness!” The weekend of activities begins October 5, with the annual Jones County Junior College Round-ball Homecoming Golf Tournament being held at Dixie Golf Club in Laurel. Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m., followed by registration at 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The 3-man select shot event is limited to the first 26 teams with a $70 entry fee per player. Hole sponsorships are available for $150.Food and drinks will be available on the course and prizes will be awarded after play. There will also be a hole-in-one contest during the tournament. The event, which is sponsored by the JCJC Hardwood Club, is a fund-raiser for the Bobcat basketball teams. Entry deadline is Oct. 4. The 50-year reunion celebration reception begins at 5 p.m., October 5. Reunions will be held for the Ellisville High School and JCJC classes of 1962. The reunions will be held in the C.L. Neill Student Center for class members and their guests with a dinner at 6 p.m. For more information call the Alumni office at 477-4145 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Homecoming Day, October 6, is slated to be an entire day of fun for all ages. Events will begin at 9 a.m. with a reception for alumni and friends at Terrell Tisdale Library. At 10:30 a.m. the JCJC Homecoming Parade will wind through the streets of Ellisville and the campus. The parade will feature floats made by the student body, as well as the Maroon Typhoon Marching Band, JCJC cheerleaders, Touch of Gold, and of course, the 2012 Homecoming Queen and her court.
Join us for a pep rally following the parade at 11:15 a.m. in front of the C.L. Neill Student Center. At 11:30 the Alumni Association is hosting a luncheon for alumni and friends of Jones County Junior College in the A.B. Howard Gymnasium. This year the Ellisville High School and JCJC classes of 1962 will be honored. The 2012 Honor Alumnus will also be recognized at the luncheon. Bobcat Club tailgating begins at 11:30 at the tennis complex.
Former JCJC football and cheerleaders will gather at 11:30 for their reunions under the tents at Sim Cooley field.
The Homecoming Football game festivities will begin at 2:30 p.m. with the pre-game marching band show on the Sim Cooley Football Field at Bobcat Stadium. The game against East Central Community College will begin at 3 p.m.
At halftime, the Homecoming Court will be presented with the crowning of the 2012 Homecoming Queen, Ramanda Dace. Also during halftime, the JCJC and the Ellisville High School honored classes, and the 2012 Honor Alumni, John and Connie Forde will be honored at this time. The festivities will end with a performance by the Maroon Typhoon and Touch of Gold.
